Lighting standard
ENERGY STAR's standards for solid-state lighting fixtures, in addition to complying with current lighting industry reference standards and test procedures, also involve the development of new or revised standards and test procedures by the relevant lighting industry organizations. The scope of this standard applies to solid-state lighting products used in general lighting, including decorative products with significant lighting functions. If the product meets ENERGY STAR qualification, it must meet all the specifications of its standards, and it also regulates residential and commercial use. The product is only applicable to products that are designed to be connected to an Electric Power Grid.
In addition, indicating solid-state lighting products, such as traffic lights and exit signs, products exclusively for decoration, and solid-state lighting products used to retrofit existing equipment are not applicable to this standard. In this standard, solid-state lighting products are divided into Category A and Category B products. The standard applies to Class A and B products in the specifications of each product.
